I’ve always been interested in helping nonprofits. So, I thought that the name of my company should reflect that. “Oui” in French means “Yes”. So it’s about saying yes to doing good.
Pro Bono for Nonprofits
Oui Do Good is committed to helping nonprofits by offering some Pro Bono hours. If you’re a registered 501c3 nonprofit and need help with your Digital Marketing Strategy, I would love to hear from you.
When I was living in Sydney (2011), I had an idea with a friend of mine to create a mobile app where users could donate for free to their favorite nonprofits, just by installing apps sponsored by advertising. In 2015, I decided to finally give it a try and started this as a side business. I worked at night, after my day job, and managed to get the app released a year or so later.
In 2017, I decided to pivot to create an Internet Browser Extension (ouiadgood.com) that allows users to make free donations and raise awareness for nonprofits just by browsing their favorite websites. Unfortunately, it was not successful.
I was still looking for a way to do more meaningful work, looking for purpose. So when I started working as a self-employed Digital Marketing Consultant, I decided to give 10% of my revenue to Room to Read, a charity I’m involved with. A lot of people told me this was too much, especially since I’m not talking about a percentage of my profits but my gross income. I still went ahead and stuck to it. When COVID hit, I lost all my clients and realized that maybe this was a bit too ambitious for someone alone, starting a new business while moving to a new country and living in an expensive city.
Today I’m more committed than ever to help nonprofits via my work. That’s why I offer Pro bono services to nonprofits. I’ve also been fundraising for Room to Read and Team For Kids (running the NYC Marathon). This is a big part of who I am.
